OpenGL
From Sigma Design Wiki
OpenGL (Open Graphics Library) is a standard specification defining a cross-language cross-platform API (application programming interface) for writing applications that produce 3D computer graphics (and 2D computer graphics as well). The interface consists of over 250 different function calls which can be used to draw complex three-dimensional scenes from simple primitives. OpenGL was developed by Silicon Graphics and is popular in the computer and video games industry where it competes with Direct3D on Microsoft Windows platforms. OpenGL is widely used in CAD (computer-aided design), virtual reality, scientific visualization, information visualization, flight simulations and video game development.

Uses in ARRIS
You can use OpenGL in ARRIS CAD to quickly display textured, rendered images.
Select OpenGL Toolbar from Special on the pull-down menu at the top of the application.
Buttons
The first 4 buttons control the OpenGL diaplay mode:
- Off - normal ARRIS Wireframe
- On - OpenGL rendering with textures (if set - see settings)
- Edge Highlight - highlight the edges of faces.
- Hidden Line
Assign Textures
The next button assigns textures.
You can assign a texture to any ARRIS color.
Lights Menu
The next button loads the lights menu:
OpenGL Setup
The last button loads the OpenGL SetUp dialog:
- Use Textures
- You may want to disable texture display to make the display faster until you are ready for a final rendering.
- Edge/Line Color
- Used for Hidden Line display
- Background color
- Display Lines
- If checked, then 2D lines will be displayed along with the 3D Geometry.
