With the release of ARRIS 9.1, Sigma Design has completed the integration of the new release of eZ 4 as a fundamental plug-in application for ARRIS.

eZ 4 Integration
There will be no additional costs for the eZ application. All standalone capabilities of eZ 4 will be free.
In fact, Sigma Design will be releasing eZ 4 to everyone in the world for free. No restrictions! eZ has now become a free universal viewing, design and presentation software that is focused on improving and simplifying communication in the real estate management, design, architectural, engineering and construction industries. Sigma Design is creating a freer, more universal and more powerful standard of sharing information than PDF or DWF.
eZ 4 Scaling and Measurement
- Automatic Scaling of ARRIS Documents.
- Area Calculations of ARRIS and other CAD Drawings.
- Measure and Scale items in CAD Drawings.
- Raster Images- area and measurement for raster images and other objects.
EZ for collaboration
While all standalone capabilities of eZ 4 will be free, Sigma will still be offering the eZmeeting collaboration service starting at only $99 per month. Our strategy is to attract literally millions of users around the world to our new, free eZ application. From this new audience for Sigma Design products we will market our premium products such as ARRIS, BuildersCAD and eZmeeting
BIM
This release is also a hint of what is to come with ARRIS using eZ as a universal, free way to read both 2D and 3D BIM information. Future releases of ARRIS will be providing simple, but powerful new ways of linking all kinds of BIM intelligence to all ARRIS entities, both 2D and 3D.
eZ will be the primary way this information will be viewed, queried and printed by others. Sigma Design is designing ARRIS information to be the easiest and simplest to share of any CAD or BIM application in the world.
Other eZ 4 features
eZ 4 all by itself is a super major release. Thanks to Al Hart’s team eZ now has tons of new publishing and creation tools.
- Copy eZ markup objects
- Paste images into whiteboards or any kind of document, drawing or model from eZ’s new image clipboard or the standard’s Windows clipboard.
- Undo and Redo. While ARRIS 9.1 information will already be measurable, eZ also has very simple calibration tools that allow you to essentially calibrate any kind of drawing or image and make it measurable for distance and area. For instance, this is an awesome tool to use over the top of aerial photos. I think everybody is going to love it!
- SketchUp interface - import SketchUp models as well as ARRIS drawings.
All of this is going to be free for any business, organization or person in the world.
IABC
We have prepared excellent hands on training and lessons for ARRIS 9.1 and eZ 4 the IABC 2007 in Seattle. This is the perfect opportunity to quickly come up to speed and go back home and implement these new methods in your office.

For me personally, eZ had already become my primary design sketchbook. The impact of having ARRIS 9.1 information so easily measurable in eZ is absolutely inspiring. Unbelievable, really! You can’t imagine how effective it is for informing design decisions as the project progresses. It is very, very cool!
