ARRIS 9.3 beta spin 5 is up and available on our beta web site at www.sigmadesign.com/beta.

There are a lot of great new features in ARRIS 9.3. The emphasis on this release is to give the ARRIS user the simplest, most user friendly output of any CAD system.

Contents

New Features

Windows Toolbars

There are new windows toolbars at the top of the ARRIS window which duplicate the functions of the ARRIS Desktop menu and View Control Bar. These toolbars are a preview of things to come and represent the first step toward making the ARRIS interface more familiar and user friendly, particularly to new users. See: Windows Toolbars

Plot Presets

Save, and quickly select, settings for multiple plotters.

If you use more than one plotter and find that you have to change things - like paper size, etc. when switching plotters, this will be an important time-saver.

See: Plot Presets

Projects and File open menus

Projects and File open menus have been combined into a single menu, and a lot of things added. In addition to selecting a Project Page (database drawing/sheet) and opening it, you can now also open it read-only (on a separate button), and open it in a new ARRIS session. Also the menu supports multiple selections using the <Ctrl> and <Shift> keys and allows you to plot, print to .pdf, export to eZ, or save .dwg file(s) of your selection(s).

Other Things

  • the mouse scroll wheel zoom now zooms (both in and out) centered on the cursor instead of the center of the screen. This makes zooming to a precise spot much easier, and was a user requested enhancement.
  • on selected menus you can now scroll menu lists on lists that have slidebars using the mouse scroll wheel. This function is enabled on a menu by menu basis and will be added to more menus as appropriate as we move forward - similar to menu help and consistency enhancements. This function is currently enabled on the Project Page / Database Drawing/Sheet Select menu, the Entity Select menu, all menus in the Developer application, and a few more.

There are many, many more things - too many to list here. If you are interested in looking at ARRIS 9.3, download it from the beta site. We would appreciate your feedback. If you are looking at 9.3 and would like a current word document listing of new features and bug fixes, please send me an e-mail and I will send one.
