New Features added in the initial release of ARRIS 9.1
eZ 4.0 Drawing Calibration
With the installation of eZ 4.0, ARRIS 9.1 will now launch both 2D drawings and 3D models to eZ with the drawing or model scale pre-calibrated in eZ. This allows the use of the new Measure Distance and Measure Area tools in eZ without having to set the calibration to give an accurate distance or area.
OpenGL Display
In ARRIS 9.1 we have introduced 3 new OpenGL view modes - Edge Highlight, Wire Frame, and Hidden Line. The View menu has been enhanced and expanded to support these 3 additional OpenGL functions as well as the Edge Color Selection for them. See the OpenGL topic in the ARRIS Encyclopedia.
- Note: In all the OpenGL modes, you can orbit, spin, pan and zoom on the model.
Query Area
A new and improved Query Area function has been added, including a new menu. This allows you to query the area of a single boundary or add/subtract multiple boundaries. Boundaries may be input by points, rectangle, zone, or chase. The Chase function as also been improved. The units of the area reported may be selected with choices including Square Feet, Square Inches, Square Yards, Acres, Square Miles, Square Millimeters, Square Centimeters, Square Meters, Hectares, and Square Kilometers. Refer to the Measure topic of the ARRIS Encyclopedia.
ARRIS Developer
The new ARRIS Developer plug-in has been added in ARRIS 9.1. This plug-in allows ARRIS custom Sigmac and Menu developers to organize their source code, compile, archive, and build their custom programs/menus in easy to use ARRIS menus. It includes the Sigmac Compile / Build and Menu Compile / Build functions as well as utilities to load, unload, and status Sigmac and Menu libraries. There are also utilities to set development parameters and select and manage menu repeated items. Refer to the Developer topic of the ARRIS Encyclopedia.
Menu Help
The ARRIS Menu Help system has been overhauled. There is now a single Help menu when you middle click on an ARRIS menu button. This menu contains the Help title (short help), a more descriptive help text (long help), a listing of the mnemonic command executed by the button, and the default right click command if there is one. There are also buttons to add the command to the User Toolbar or run the command (as before). The Menu Help overhaul changes the way help is sourced and will make menu help easier to maintain and add. It has also enabled us to correct problems which have arisen in Menu Help with menus that have been revised since ARRIS version 8.0.
Viewport Limit
The number of Viewports that can be placed on a sheet has been raised from 32 to 128.
Miscellaneous New Sigmacs
- :colswap - This command reverses colors 0 and 1 in the current ARRIS colormap. In a standard colormap this has the effect of reversing the screen background color, allowing you to toggle between black and white.
Bug Fixes
Bug Fixes in ARRIS 9.1 include:
- Fixed bug in light positioning when new menus sizes are in use.
- Fixed bug in exporting to SketchUp 6 because of a change in Texture libraries. Texture libraries from SketchUp 6 may not be used, however libraries from SketchUp 5 may still be used.
- Fixed errors with plotting and .pdf creation of multiple layers.
- Fixed a small bug in the Notes Catalog Manager.
- Crosshatch Query now correctly reports the hatch type.
- Fixed the vertical slidebar in Sheets.
- The Find Quadrant Points of a Circle function now properly finds the quadrants when work angle is on.
