Sigma Design announces the release of eZ 4.0. The new software can now be downloaded from both http://www.arriscad.com and http://www.ezmeeting.com. Sigma Design is taking the bold step of releasing eZ 4.0 as a completely free viewing, design and presentation software for the world. Our goal is to ultimately reach every designer in the world and have eZ be an essential part of their design process. eZ 4.0 is a great first step in achieving that goal. eZ is a simple tool that enables a designer to see all of his or her information in one place, regardless of source, and then sketch and design on top of it.
Unlike Adobe Reader, eZ 4.0 not only lets you freely view pdf and other file types, but it also allows you to publish your work for free. Its a little like Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Acrobat combined. eZ is a totally free way to collect information from various sources, design over the top of it, organize it and then publish for others to see. I think it is the best way in the world to present and share design information. Sigma Design is going to help every one of our customers master this new tool.
eZ 4.0 introduces powerful new tools. Now you can copy and paste markup objects. You can now undo and redo your markups. There are two new image clipboard tools that allow you to cut and paste an image over any type of file within a .ez compound file. There is early support for Google SketchUp's .skp format, although we will be releasing a new version soon which will furthur optimize eZ's support for .skp model files. Finally, there are powerful new calibration tools for distance and measurement take-offs. Also, eZ 4.0 can instantly measure drawings and models sent from ARRIS 9.1. The latest version of ARRIS now automatically sends scalable information to eZ 4.0. Only ARRIS 9.1 and future versions of ARRIS will support this automatic calibration feature. Previous versions of ARRIS have the option of manually calibrating ARRIS drawings with eZ 4.0's new calibration tools.
There are many wonderful design tools within eZ, but the first thing I want ARRIS users to think is - BUBBLE DIAGRAMS. eZ 4.0 might just be the finest bubble diagram tool in the world. I was already using eZ shapes over the top of my ARRIS drawings as an essential part of my design process. With eZ 4.0, my bubble diagrams are all scalable and I can now interactively view area and distance calculations. It a design methodology that is better and more fluid than any paper or electronic method I have ever used. We are working on a video and an animation to show everyone how to do this. It is very simple to do, and incredibly powerful in a designer's hands.
