Subject: [arriscad] translating ctb file
dear Arris masters.:) Issue in the translation of Acad to Arris with a consultant.
-how to Translate from a consultant Acad file that has a CTB file
(Color dependent plot style table file) to Arris?
I have implemented the following color scheme and the consultant created a CTB file ,
but I do not have the foggiest how to get it translated.
There have been things I have tried in the past but my lack of knowledge of Acad has caused problems.
I am still trying, and am thinking that consultants Acad layers should NOT use default line types/lineweights ? .
I am trying to establish them to create a proto type file inserted a master database for their work.
If I understand what I need it is to ask the Acad user what layers correspond to pen weights.
So far their plotstyles have translated incorrectly (such as
pen0 color 35 , pen0 color 28 , for pens they clearly wanted to be pen .25)
What we have decided for NA drawings is that there are about 4 primary penweights we would like to use,
.15 (not default) thinnest for gwb, door-swings, and text leaders ,(Acad Red, index color 1, RGB 255,0,0)
.18 (not default) thin for construction lines, (Acad White, index color 7, RGB 255,255,255)
.25 (not default) thin for doors, most items and script/text/words,(Acad Yellow, index color 2, RGB 255,255,0),
.35 (not default) thick for outlines of building, major wall lines,(Acad Green, index color 3, RGB 0,255,0),
.40 (not default) thick lines as needed, cmu outline of walls,(Acad Cyan, index color 4, RGB 0,0,255),
trying to coordinate with the consultant that are 'screened' / 'toned' .... I need their drawings to have a CTB file that has
something like the following because Arris only plots pens 1-15 , and since Acad users use nomenclature like
250,251, and 252, Acad to Arris is not able to be simple, unless someone can explain.
250=light 'grayscale' 70% = (Arris color+pen 15=250)
'grayscale' 70% for light lines beyond, core lines in walls and insulation in walls, cmu block fill/hatch/earth hatch/pattern,
roof insulation, crushed stone base, brick veneer on elevations, background info.,(Acad index color 250, RGB 51,51,51).
251=semi-light 'grayscale' 50% = (Arris color+pen 14=251)
'grayscale' 50%. for roof shingles on elevations, siding on elevations,hatch patterns,etc..,(Acad index color 251, RGB 91,91,91).
252=lightest 'grayscale' 30% = (Arris color+pen 13=252)
'grayscale' 30%. for items that are super-light and in the background.,.,(Acad index color 252, RGB 132,132,132).
I have the above with color 15 and 14 and 13 on a CTB file to be a plotstyle , [I]but how do I get them to 'load ' that CTB info
to the Acad drawing before I translate the database to Arris? I wonder how to keep my translation of thier pens/layers 250,251,252,
to correspond to my 15,14,13 Arris pens ?. I apologize if the above is not completely understood ,
as I am sure each Arris user has a different pen scheme.
( I have always appreciated Arris flexibility, but it seems to me its really difficult to work this issue out)
any technical thoughts out there willing to lend a hand?
